WWI Browning Automatic Rifle 2nd Assistant Gunner Belt

BAR belt has khaki canvas and web BAR ammunition pouches, two .45 automatic pistol magazine pouches, and the

as on the center adjustment belt. Shows normal light wear and soil. Includes six good condition BAR magazines. II

WWI Browning Automatic Rifle Gunner's Belt: Includes Six Magazines
A258
Two officially modified BAR gunner belts, each with the 'walking fire' cup removed and replaced by an extra BAR
magazine pouch instead. First example retains the pouch for two .45 automatic pistol magazines, and has a total of
five pouches for BAR magazines; reverse marked "LONG 4-18" on the left and right sides, with "LONG 5-18" date on
the center belt. Second example has a total of six BAR magazine pouches, with reverse marked "LONG 5-18" on the
left and right sides, with the date illegible on the center adjustment belt. Each has lift-the-dot fasteners, each shows
normal light wear and soil but remain in good solid condition. II
$125
WWI Browning Automatic Rifle Magazine Belt Lot: Two Variant Belts
A259
Very similar in appearance to the BAR gunner's belt, but made without the large ammunition pockets and with a
slightly smaller metal 'walking fire' cup. Each side has an integral clip pouch for .45 automatic ammunition, and the
interior has "R.H. LONG / 3/18" maker's stamp. Shows light wear and soil. The French Chau-Chat was issued to
automatic riflemen in most AEF combat units, with the BAR arriving too late to see much active service. The
ammunition carriers are scarce but obtainable with a bit of patience, however the American Chau-Chat gunner's belt is
one of the most elusive bits of AEF web gear that most collectors will never find. Rare, II

Dark khaki / olive drab web, 'Y' shape profile rather than either variant of the more common 'X' pattern, has two
front suspender straps sewn at a fixed point to a single wide strap at the back which suspends a smaller web strap
making two connections on the user's belt. Another unusual feature is at the point of the user's shoulders, these are
made with a turned, contoured interior edge to better fit the shoulder. This pair has Mills cartridge logo maker's stamp
with "1914" date. Shows only very light service and storage wear. The previous owner of this pair has them listed as
the "Mills 1914 Navy & Marine Model". Though I have not seen that documented, I have learned that his research
turns out to be correct 99 times out of 100. Only the second pair of these that we have had here at AGM. II+

WWI Combat Suspenders: Mills 1914 Navy & Marine Model
A261
Combat suspenders of khaki web marked with "MILLS" cartridge maker's stamp and wartime date "AUG. 1918", an
improvement on the 1907 pattern that has a khaki web keeper strap instead of the little metal retaining clip at the
point of the 'X' in back (this later wartime revision makes much more sense, and makes the suspenders considerably
more functional!), blackened bronze hook attachments and slide size adjustment buckles. These were favored by
trench raiding parties and other troops who needed to wear their cartridge belts without the knapsack. This set
appears to be in excellent, unissued condition with just a bit of minor storage wear. II+

Unmarked contract M1916 (1917 revision with lift-the-dot fasteners), medical corpsman's belt remains a nice unfaded
olive drab color, of woven web and canvas. Belt shows very little use. It is mounted by light olive "R.I.A. 1918"
marked first aid dressing carrier, unmarked equipment hanger extension, and dark olive unmarked diagnostic tag pouch
that has iodine stains on the exterior, interior inscribed with old surplus store price "25". Very nice example, and
interesting to find a WWI Corpsman belt with lift-the-dot fasteners in olive drab. II / II+

corpsman's belt with "MILLS" cartridge logo and 1917 date. Belt contents include tourniquet, (worn and open on one
end) carton containing iodine swabs and several extras not housed in a carton, two 1917 dated packets of Bauer &
Black "Corrosive Sublimate Gauze Compress" in waxed paper cartons, ten 1918 dated Bauer & Black large bandage
packets, six small rolled gauze bandage packets, issue medical department alcohol bottle sized for the aid belt pocket,
and one packet of pins. Has "May 1917" dated khaki cotton diagnostic tag pouch with "FH 64" stenciled unit
marking, lacks tags. Also a soiled but good M1910 individual first aid packet dated 1917, with stained but good and
unopened 1916 dated Bauer & Black tan painted brass first aid packet. Belt and attached pouches remain in good solid
condition, showing normal wear, stains, and soil. Reverse of the belt has Base Hospital stenciled markings, and the
front left side has one of the small bronze equipment marking tags. Belt is also fitted with an equipment hanger
extension, where the corpsman likely carried a canteen. It has been quite some time since we had one of these belts
with the contents! II

WWI Medical Corpsman's Aid Belt & Contents

M1916 khaki web medical officer's field belt has lift-the-dots and "LONG 2-18" maker's stamp. Belt is dark with age
and dirt, and feels a bit oily as if it was possibly treated with one of the anti-gas concoctions. No contents. III
