A192
Light olive canvas and web canteen cover has bronze rimless eagle snap fasteners, faint "U.S." stencil and darker "29"
painted marking. Reverse has olive web inverted "V" strap with snap hook. Interior reveals that the eagle snaps have
partially pulled through weakened material and a collector has attempted to stabilize them by gluing the interior. As
such, the cover is fine to display as an example of the mounted M1910, likely good for one more snap closed.. but
certainly would not survive an attempt to open it back up after that. Has "Mills" cartridge logo and date "1912". III

Army Eagle Snap M1910 Canteen Cover: Mounted Configuration
A193
Includes issue aluminum cup and canteen with the common style knurled edge cap, neither have maker marks or dates,
which is theorized to indicate canteens made in 1916. Light olive canvas and web cover has bronze rimless eagle snap
fasteners, nice crisp "U.S." stencil on the front, khaki web guide loops, and brown leather strap with snap hook
attachment. Strap is soiled, but pliable and Pecard-free. Interior of the flaps have faint inspector and maker
markings; date is hard to read but appears to be either "1914" or "1916". Base has thong attachment. Nice set! II

Army Eagle Snap Mounted Canteen Set
A194
Includes issue aluminum cup and canteen with the common style knurled edge cap, neither have maker marks or dates,
which is theorized to indicate canteens made in 1916. Light olive canvas and web cover has lift-the-dot fasteners,
marked with "U.S." stencil on the front, and "R.I.A. / 1916" on the interior flap. One of the lift-the-dots has torn
through the canvas, and a previous caretaker has attempted to stabilize it with glue from the reverse. A desperate
attempt, but you can understand his motivation when you observe that the guides for the leather saddle attachment
strap are of leather rather than canvas, and the reverse still maintains the bronze wire belt attachment. This is a
variant preceding the more familiar M1917 mounted canteen. Leather remains in good pliable condition, Pecard-free,
and has the snap hook attachment. Has normal stains and wear. An interesting 'missing link' example documenting
the development of the US canteen through all the changes of this era. Would be a solid 'II' if not for the lift-the-dot.

Army Mounted Canteen Set: 1916 Variant
A195
Khaki web belt has nine rifle ammunition pockets with bronze rimless eagle snap fittings and brown leather tab riveted
to one side securing the saber ring. Second pattern with gathered pocket bases to accommodate the Spitzer pattern .30
caliber cartridges after 1905. Has "Mills" cartridge logo on the blackened end tabs which extend across the entire
width of the belt as adopted in 1907. Belt remains in excellent, solid condition, with good unfaded dark khaki color.
Includes the proper russet leather saber hanger with blackened brass snap hooks and attachment fittings. Leather
remains in good pliable condition and is Pecard-free, with little wear. No visible maker or date, but does have
inspector initials stamp on one strap. Belt has just a bit of light green oxidation on some of the small fittings. Quite
nice overall. II+

M1902 Infantry Officer's Dress Sword Belt
A197
Updated russet leather version of the Spanish-American War era black leather blanket roll straps, consisting of two
straps with riveted-on 'D-ring' fasteners used at the ends of the blanket roll, a short adjustable connecting strap, and
one strap without the ring fastener for the center of the blanket roll. Has "R.I.A. 1904" and inspector's initials
markings. Leather remains in excellent pliable condition and is Pecard-free. This is one of those little details in a
display that makes all the difference - you can dummy it up with other odd leather straps or string, but nothing says
'
first class collection' like having the proper gear down to the last detail. II+

M1903 Blanket Roll Straps
A198
Much more scarce than the desirable M1907 suspenders, this early M1903 pair features a single adjustable web belt
looped through a suspension slot on the shoulder strap assembly, which on this version has separate attachment straps
then on both the left and right fronts of the shoulder straps. Blackened bronze fittings. Has 1905 dated patent
markings but no visible maker. Likely Mills, though. Has a few very minor stains from storage only, appears not to
have seen a day's service. II+

M1903 Combat Suspenders
A199
Much more scarce than the desirable M1907 suspenders, this early M1903 pair features a single adjustable web belt
looped through a suspension slot on the likewise one-piece construction shoulder strap assembly. Very simple design.
This particular example is completely unmarked, very likely made by Russell. Has blackened bronze attachment
hooks and adjustment buckles. Shows very little if any wear - appears completely mint, unissued condition. I

M1903 Combat Suspenders: Russell
A200
Very nice eagle snap dismounted cartridge belt - shows very little sign of use, with light storage wear only. Khaki web
belt has nine rifle cartridge pockets with flat bases and blackened rimless eagle snap closures. Pockets are not divided.
Has bronze buckle hardware, and unmarked blackened metal 1907 style full-coverage end tabs. Previous owner noted
that he believed it to be likely an early Russell example. Has fraying on one end on the interior where the tab was
installed with a bit of loose end web protruding, has likely been like that since the day it was made. Overall, far nicer
than normally encountered. Color remains good and strong. II+

M1903 Infantry Eagle Snap Cartridge Belt
A201
One of the nicest M1903 eagle snap cartridge belts to come across this desk in quite some time! Khaki web belt has
nine rifle cartridge pockets with gathered bases and blackened rimless eagle snap closures. Pockets are not divided.
Has bronze buckle hardware, and early style partial interior end tabs with 1904 dated "MILLS" patent data. Cut lines
are still visible on the interior of the web ends. Shows no sign of being issued and worn, light storage wear only. This
one would be quite difficult to upgrade. II+

Olive drab web M1907 suspenders have Mills patent data on much of the blackened bronze hardware, and "MILLS"
