Issue HBT camouflage jacket with concealed button front, patch pockets with flaps, and composition buttons. Fabric
printed on both sides but not reversible. Has two chest bellows pockets and elbow reinforcement patches on the
sleeves. Although washed, the fabric colors remain strong. Shows normal light field wear and has spots of white paint
on both cuffs. Interior has size tag "38R" in the collar and the owner's stamped partial service number. Contract tag
is present in the pocket but is no longer legible. The matching straight leg trousers have large cargo pockets, the
contract tag is again washed out. The size tag is marked "W30 / L33." A short tear has been expertly repaired on the
cuff of the left leg. This pattern found little success in Europe during the D-Day campaign, as soldiers found that it
was easily confused with German camouflage and thus drew an uncomfortable amount of friendly fire. The Army
camouflaged uniforms were received with far greater popularity by US troops in the Pacific. Scarce, II

M1936 white cotton tunic, formerly the property of Capt. Howard B. Lodge, commanding Battery "E." Has open
lapel collar with gilt and black enamel "U.S. / IND" insignia, "150" over crossed cannon on the lapels, all with early
clutch back attachments. Shoulder straps with enamel unit crests and rank insignia. A two place ribbon bar for the
American Defense Service and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medals is pinned over the left chest pocket and the cuff have
white braid trim. Unlined but with a Louisville, KY tailor's label and two laundry tags with the initials "HBL." The
cotton fabric has taken on a slight age toning. Included with the tunic is a single 'dog tag' named to Lodge, a small
metal plaque named to Lodge as a 1st Lieutenant with crossed flags and unit designation, and a second two place ribbon
bar. A photocopy of a photo of the subject is also included. The use of the dress uniform was allowed but not required
by National Guard officers and was optional for all officers after 1940, making this tunic scarce. II

Cap Toe' U.S. Army service shoes of russet finished cordovan leather, black rubber "U.S. ARMY" marked soles and
black rubber heels . This is the style made before 1943 with toe cap. Has size "10 C" on the exteriors near the top;
interior is not marked that we can tell except with "M.McCARTHY U.S.A" on the underside of the tongue. Original

they were stored in a basement. Easy to clean, though, and the leather appears to be in nice condition. II
