Model 16 helmet has standard as-per-Imperial-order dark green, red-brown, and ocher tan camouflage finish worked in
large segments with thin black separating lines; 85% remaining with mellow patina in the worn areas. Interior has
1917
pattern steel liner band with all three original white leather liner pads, two of which have the horsehair cushions
installed. Leather is soiled from service but remains in very good pliable condition, and Pecard-free. Liner pins appear
to be undisturbed since the original assembly of the helmet. Has a faint name inscription on the back interior skirt,
and maker's size stamp is "ET 64". Lacks chinstrap. Very nice helmet with good character. II

Attractive nonstandard camouflage worked in medium size angular segments of ocher yellow, light green, and off-white
with thin black separating lines. Finish remains in excellent shape showing little wear, and very clearly original.
Interior has 1917 pattern metal liner band with all three original liner pads. Two of the liner pins are original to the
helmet; one may be a replacement. White leather pads are soiled from service but remain in good pliable condition
and are Pecard-free. Lacks only the chinstrap as usual. Has maker's size stamp "Si 66". II

Camouflaged Model 16 Helmet

Wartime production helmet with gray metal fittings including removable spike, has Prussian eagle frontplate that is
worn but retains traces of gray finish in the recesses. Nice original National and Prussian cockades are retained by an
old and good quality reproduction black leather chinstrap. Helmet body retains good form, with black exterior finish
exhibiting age craquelure but no flaking of the finish; rear visor retains it's correct profile, front does not have any
constriction when judged against the peakmount, and neither front nor rear have any stitching issues. Interior has
good Pecard-free black leather liner with normal wear including several of the 'fingers' pulled through on the ends by
the draw cord. Rear visor interior has illegible issue marking. Interior of the crown shows two (period) patched holes
indicating that this frontplate was replaced at one time. II

Prussian WWI Enlisted Spiked Helmet

Pre-war helmet with brass fittings and non-removable spike, has Prussian eagle frontplate and nice original National
and Prussian cockades with a good original black leather chinstrap. Helmet body retains good form, with black
exterior finish exhibiting age craquelure primarily on the visors. Front visor has some minor constriction, both front
and rear remain solidly attached without any stitching problems. Interior has well-worn brown leather liner with
several of the 'fingers' pulled through on the ends by the draw cord which is no longer present, and areas of separation
due to wear along the sides. Rear visor interior 5th Army Corps issue marking. II

Prussian WWI Enlisted Spiked Helmet

cm overall, has 84cm triple-fluted, elegantly light Damascus steel blade with spots of light surface pitting mostly
near the tip. Blade retains gilt inscriptions naming two individuals and two units, "Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich
Wilhelm I" (East Prussia), and "Grenadier-Regiment Kaiser Wilhelm, König von Preussen" (2nd Royal Saxon).
Reverse of blade has gilt floral scrollwork throughout, with portions marred by pitting. Retains traces of blued finish
among the gilted decorative work. Ricasso has "EWALD CLEFF / SOLINGEN" maker stamp. Hilt has ribbed grip
with gray sharkskin covering and brass wire wrap intact, pierced half basket guard with floral scrollwork and Saxon
crest, reverse lion head pommel with red paste gem eyes, and trophy of arms crest on the threaded pommel cap. The
pommel cap is original, but does not sit perfectly tight against the pommel. Has steel scabbard with oxidized patina,
light surface rust, and traces of matte nickel finish. A very interesting sword worthy of further research. III+

Fullered blade has light gray finish with numerous age blemishes mixed with patina, unmarked spine, "Durkoppwerke"
large maker's pyramid logo trademark stamp on one side of the ricasso. Hilt has grayed finish with light age spots, low
muzzle 'ears', flashguard and good two piece ribbed walnut grips; includes wartime metal scabbard with traces of blued
finish mixing with patina; has nice Pecard-free, pliable brown leather bayonet belt frog. II

Has 31cm spear-point unfullered blade in good polish with Bavarian crown proof on the ricasso, thick oval steel guard
with low muzzle rest, and one-piece steel grip with angular serrations. Has good functional press stud and unmarked
steel scabbard. Hilt and scabbard have dull gray age patina. Nice ersatz bayonet. II

scrollwork panels on either side with name "Fritz Bömer". Ricasso has Paul Weyersberg & Co. oval maker's mark.
Hilt has brass guard with nice decorative embellishments on the lower crossguard, langets, finial, ferrule, and backstrap,
with Lion head pommel. Ribbed, contoured black composition grip has wire wrap intact. Brass has nice mellow age
patina. Scabbard is the single ring type per 1910 regulation, retains 65% japanned black finish mixed with patina.
Nice quality sword, certainly well above the average for this style, with interesting research possibilities. II

Imperial Officer's Lion Head Saber: Fritz Bömer

M.1889 Infantry officer's sword has double-fullered blade in excellent polish, appearing in as-new condition. Ricasso is
unmarked, has original brown leather scabbard washer. Hilt has brass folding guard with Prussian eagle, pliable brown
leather finger loop, and black composition grip with wire wrap. Grip is without a royal cypher device, and it is clear
that none was ever installed. Scabbard is the single ring type per 1910 regulation, retains 90% matte nickel finish.
Hilt has uncleaned mellow patina, and came to us with a Bavarian officer's sword knot that we have simply left in
place as-is. Nice sword with an excellent blade. II

cm long closed length, steel scales embossed on the obverse with portraits of Kaisers Wilhelm and Franz Josef and
inscribed "EINIGKEIT / MACHT / STARK" (Strength in unity). Reverse inscribed "Zur Erinnerung / an die grosse
Zeit / 1914 = 1917." (To the memory of the time of greatness) and an Iron Cross motif. Holds two folding blades, 7
and 4.5 cm long. Has minor age toning. II
